street texture creation

To create my textures I used Photoshop as little as possible so that the textures would tile better and would take up less time in the development of my street.
To make the house 3D model able to be textured easily I used a method where you split the object in to sections and each section is assigned a different material ID channel in this model 1-6 then I took the multi/sub object and gave it 6 channels. Then I gave all the channels a specific colour so that I could tell which channel was each texture.
Then I took each channel and gave it a texture so take the bricks for example I added a photograph of a brick where I took out all lens distortion and then added it on diffuse channel so that it had the colour of the bricks. Then to add a better effect to the bricks I added on a bump map which is a map that adds on fake shadows to give the impression that the bricks have been modelled. Then I used the same black and white texture to create a displacement map which makes the white push up and the black stay where it is to create the illusion of modelling        where it is only a texture and the render engine doing all the work.
